summarized Itinerary
Day 1 Drive to Nyerere • Afternoon boat safari
Day 2 Sunrise & sunset game drives • Sunset village walk
Day 3 Dawn walking safari • Return to Dar es Salaam
Depart Dar es Salam early morning and immediately you can see the city falls away in the rear-view mirror; mango stalls blur past; red-dust roads carry you to Kibiti for a hot local lunch. At the park gate the Rufiji spreads wide and bronze. You trade tyres for an outboard, skimming past pods of yawning hippos and Nile crocs glittering in the sun. Check in at Africa Safari Selous—canvas rooms under jackal-berry trees—with the river murmuring just beyond the deck.
Accommodation
At first light in the morning when the bush exhales cool mist, when the Lions leave sandal-wood-scented tracks across the sand while elephant herds file down to drink. You leave your safari accommodation and proceed to encounter wildlife in exciting game drives. Proceed with the encounter and roam until the sun climbs high, picnic beneath a sausage-tree, then idle back to camp for a siesta. Late-afternoon light turns everything bronze as you roll out again, scanning for wild dog packs. After sunset, enjoy your dinner as you observer the beautiful shades of lantern in the nearby village—children listen as elders share tales by the fire, drums tap under a sky thick with stars.
Accommodation
Early morning, join your guide and an armed ranger guide for an exciting walking safari experience. A ranger walks ahead, reading the ground: fresh civet prints, the sweet-hay scent of buffalo. The bush feels bigger when you’re on foot. Return to camp for breakfast, then start your transfer back to Dar es Salam arriving in the late afternoon.
