2 Days Mikumi Park Safari

Overview

Imagine a place where the sky stretches out forever, where the grasslands dance under the wind, and where every rustle in the bush could mean a lioness on the prowl or a giraffe grazing in the distance. In just two days, you’ll find yourself lost in the wild heart of Mikumi National Park — a place where nature speaks, and all you have to do is listen.

Summary Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi – Afternoon Game Drive

Day 2: Early Morning Game Drive – Return to Dar es Salaam

Day 1: Drive from Dar es Salaam to Mikumi – Afternoon Game Drive

Upon your arrival in Tanzania or depending on your pickup point in the city of Dar es Salaam, your guide shall pick you early, greet and brief and immediately embark on an exciting journey to Mikumi which is like a passage from chaos to calm — from the hustle and bustle of city streets to the soft, rhythmic sway of the savanna grasslands.

Along the way, you pass roadside stalls selling fresh mangoes, motorbikes zipping past, and children waving as the world rushes by.

You shall have a lunch stoppover along the way, where you can choose to enjoy a tasty Tanzanian meal just before proceeding to Mikumi.

Once you arrive at Mikumi, the adventure begins. You shall drive through the park’s winding trails, eyes scanning for movement — a herd of elephants meandering by, a pack of wild dogs darting through the bush, and somewhere beneath a tree’s shade, a leopard sprawled out, tail flicking like a metronome.

After an evening of impressive wildlife sightings, you shall then transfer to your calm accommodation, where the air is thick with the scent of wood smoke and the distant roar of a lion.

Accommodation;

  • Budget: Camp Bastian Mikumi
  • Mid-range: Mikumi Wildlife Camp
  • Luxury: Vuma Hills Tented Camp

If you like, request your dinner to be served under the African sky, the stars spilling across the night like a handful of diamonds tossed across velvet.

Day 2: Early Morning Game Drive and a return transfer to Dar es Salaam

Since this is your last day here, you shall wake up before dawn when the chill of the early morning air tight-fitting to your skin with a hot cup of Tanzanian coffee in your hands, you step into the safari vehicle and ready to start your day in the bush— a chorus of birds greeting the sun, the distant cry of a hyena echoing across the plains.

Upon your arrival at the park, immediately embark on a game drive just as the sun peeks over the horizon. Watch as a herd of buffalo moves like a slow river across the grasslands. A family of elephants huddles close, their trunks intertwining. And somewhere, the flash of a lion’s mane as it slinks through the golden grass.

After the encounter, proceed and enjoy an exciting Maasai village tour where you get to meet the local Maasai people, learn about their dance, food and culture and later drive back to Dar es Salaam in a journey through memory — each passing mile a reminder of the untamed beauty you just witnessed.
