3 Days
Overview
In three days, you explore the untamed Ruaha firsthand, where the lion’s roar echoes loudest through the bush and the vast plains stretches as far as the eye can see. This journey is no ordinary one and it’s all about immersing yourself in the authentic wilderness and experiencing the true untamed Africa, where every sunrise is a curtain call and every sunset is a dramatic finale. With over 500 bird species and one of Tanzania’s largest lion populations, Ruaha is more than a park — it’s a pulse of the wild mystery ready to be unfolded.

Day 1: Drive from Iringa/Dodoma to Ruaha – Afternoon Game Drive
You will wake very early, and according to the place where we will pick you from, you will leave for an efficient transfer to Ruaha. The journey goes through the hills, and each bend offers an unexpected facet of Tanzania’s unspoiled beauty. When you get to Ruaha, the sun is high, and the wildlife is in full activity.
With dust billowing around the car, you drive straight into the park. The elephants spread their ears under the acacia trees, impalas burst through the grass, and somewhere out there, a lion’s call thunders through the air. As the sun begins to set, bathing the sky with gold and crimson, you will reach Ruaha Hilltop Lodge — where the evening air is alive with the whispering of the wild.
Dine under starlight, with the air charged with the aroma of bush and the distant howl of a hyena.
Day 2: All-Day Game Drive in Ruaha
You rise with the dawn light, the sky still tinged with soft orange and pink. The park stirs to life, and so too do the lions. The pride glides unnoticed through the grass, their gaze locked onto a herd of grazing impalas.
The game drive is like a dance — kudus bound through the bush, giraffes walking out towards the horizon, and a herd of wild dogs walking along an empty dry river course. By noon, the heat is like a weight upon you, and you seek shelter under the baobab tree, the wind whispering the faraway thunder of the lion.
You make your way further into the park as the sun cools, with keen eyes out for the elusive leopard moving unseen among the underbrush or the out-of-place-at-sunset sable antelope frozen motionless.
Dinner is being served in the lodge, the evening alive with the sounds of unseen wildlife and the distant hooting of an owl.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive – Back to Iringa
You will awaken with the aroma of hot coffee and the crisp air wafting through the lodge. Your last drive through Ruaha — your ultimate opportunity to catch that flash of the lion’s mane, the movement of the leopard’s tail, or the dust cloud kicked up by the buffalo herd.
With the sun rising higher, you make your way back to Iringa, each mile carrying you away from the wild and into the world outside. Upon reaching Iringa, you shall be taken to your hotel or airport, the wildebeest still ringing in your head.
